Option #1: Bootcamp. Can be a possibility, but complicated to set-up. Personally, I've previously used the last option where I've bootcamped my Mac with Windows aside. This worked well for me, meaning that I can enjoy the game smoothly again, with my Mac. It was however annoying that I had to split my resources, use disk space, use Windows and have to restart my machine every time I needed to play Cataclysm WoW on my Mac.

An option is that you to do the same. Of course, only in case you really want to play a Cataclysm Server on a Mac Machine. It can take a couple of hours to set-up the Bootcamp, and can be a little complicated. There are also other possibilities like VMWares where you can split your Mac up. This gets done when you open a program, into a selected OS like Windows, and then launch the game. But speaking from experience, it just never really provides the smooth gameplay.

Option #2: Parallels. Not recommended.

Personally, I'm using a Macbook Pro 2016, and the method works well. I have been using it for months, without any issues. Please note that this method is a paid Software that costs 40 USD lifetime. I bought it without any doubt because for me I knew it was worth it. You have to consider with yourself whether it's worth it for you or not. I can however almost guarantee you that the Software, once buying, works flawlessly according to my tests.

1.Start by purchasing the Software, so we can proceed. You can purchase itHERE. You can choose a Trial or a Paid version. I recommend you to get the Paid version straight away because the trial contains some limited features and will stop working after 14 days. The other one will work permanently, lifetime wise, and you won't have to set it up again after 14 days. I already tested it on several Mac machines, and haven't had a single issue so far. Great job to the author of the software.

2.After clicking the linkHEREwe recommend you to get the second one, called "One Version", like below:

You simply need to press "Add to Cart" on the One version, which costs 39.95 USD.

After you've paid, we can start setting it up.

3.Install and launch CrossOver. Now press on the button "Install a Windows Application".

4.Now you have to select an Application to Install as the first step. In this field, search for "World of Warcraft". Select it, and click continue. After doing so, click on the next tab called "Select Installer", and then click on Choose Installer File. Now you need to browse to your WoW Cataclysm Client (For windows!), and find the WoW.exe file, and select it.

Note: If you don't have a Cataclysm Client for Windows stored, then you can get theCataclysm Client. Just make sure to get the Windows client version from it.

5.At the next tab ("Select Bottle Tab"), choose Windows 7, X64 Bottle.

In that case, open the CrossOver program, and then select the WoW Bottle that you created earlier, and click on "Run Command", then select the WoW.exe from your Cataclysm WoW Directory, and press "Save Command as Launcher", and press open.

After doing so, you will see the WoW icon below the Bottle tab. You can also drag the WoW Cataclysm Launcher from Crossover into your Desktop or Dock. This way you can get directly into WoW Cataclysm without having to open Crossover first.
