When the entire world was conquered by the slob style in 2020, Darren Star released a colorful fairy tale whose ingenious success formula proved to work flawlessly: a simple story, beautiful designer clothes, love, and Paris. The charming Emily Cooper (Lily Collins) and her charismatic French team face marketing challenges that get solved mostly thanks to an unexpected deus ex machina involvement, which turned theNetflix series into a relaxing binge-watch-worthy content winning over 58 million households during its release year.
Often, when a cinematic piece portrays a city, the image is too enhanced. Hundreds of people come to Paris to stroll the cute streets of the fabulous Amélie world created by Jean-Pierre Jeunet and end up deeply disappointed after seeing the unfiltered reality. But no worries, follow this guide, and you will have a fully immersive gastronomic discovery of actual fantastic restaurants that awed Emily Cooper and keep alluring both foodies and cinephiles to the French capital. Bon Appétit!
1. The crimson appeal of Gabriel's restaurant

Caprese salad
It's a national Italian salad that is very simple to cook. This starter's name comes from the Capri island and the ingredients reflect the colours of the Italian flag: green basil, white mozzarella and red tomatoes. Caprese salad is paired with arugula and is regarded as the most patriotic salad.

For one of the main shooting locations, showrunners selected Terra Nera. In the series, its name changes every season – Les Deux Comperes, Chez Lavaux, and finally L'Espirit de Gigi – a tribute to Chef Gabriel’s grandmother, who inspired him to cook. Nowadays, the iconic destination near the picturesque Place de l'Estrapade in the Latin Quarter has become a tourist hotspot. But we encourage you to come over not just for a photo by the recognizable façade but to enjoy flawless Neapolitan specialties prepared by owners Johann Baranes and Valerio Abate.
Start by relieving the Emily fantasy by ordering the fizzy Kir royal as apéritif. While crème de cassis adds a pleasant sweetness, the citrusy notes of Champagne make it a light and delightful introduction to your culinary experience. Next, relish salmon carpaccio or opt for Caprese salad. In mains, we recommend trying scaloppine, succulent grilled beef steak, smoky calamari, tender silver sea bream, or fusilli Terra Nera with mozzarella, tomato, and basil.
Average bill – €45

Curious detail: In the series, Gabriel’s dream is to earn a Michelin Star. The restaurant team is tipped off that one of their visitors is the guide’s inspector. In reality, such secret visitors always dine in pairs. To find out more about Michelin-starred and Bib Gourmand gems in Paris, check out these selections:

Fries
French fries are a popular fast-food dish enjoyed all around the world. They are traditionally made from thinly sliced strips of potatoes, deep-fried until they reach a crispy texture. Typically served hot, fries are the classic side dish to burgers, but can also be eaten on their own as a snack.

Nestled on Île Saint-Louis, just near Notre-Dame, our second spot is a love letter to Parisian lifestyle. Anyone walking by (even not knowing its connection to the show) would be tempted to sit on the magnificent terrace dotted with petite round tables and wicker chairs of Le Flore en l'Île. The intimately dark, subtly lit front of the house oozes elegance and splendor creating a relaxed vibe.
Here, guests get to savor the restaurant’s specialty – the famous Berthillon ice cream with a myriad of flavors: honey nougat, coconut, vanilla, banana, and chocolate sauce, raspberry coulis with whipped cream, and lemon sorbet with vodka, to name a few. If you are in the mood for a full meal, the culinary team is more than happy to offer an array of mouthwatering French delicacies, including grilled fish of the day, penne tomato and basil with Parmesan shaving, skirt steak Aloyau with Béarnaise sauce, crispy fries, and seasonal salad.
Brunch special – €39 (served until 4 p.m.)

Interesting fact: Apart from relishing Berthillon ice cream, Emily finds out about the divine crunch of pain au chocolat atBoulangerie Moderne by Thierry Rabineau. We’ve listed the echelon of the best local bakeries in the city in the following guide:

3. Time travel at Le Temps des Cerises
Le temps des cerises

Risotto
This dish comes from Northern Italy whose climate is ideal for growing rice (riso means 'rice'). The key ingredient is semi-rounded short-grain rice cooked with meat, fish or vegetable broth. Try risotto with parmesan cheese and white wine. Add saffron for flavour and yellow colour.

While Le Temps des Cerises on Rue de la Cerisaie might not be as internationally famous as Terra Nera, its authentic charm, coupled with quite an impressive origin story, makes the restaurant a remarkable destination. In 1830, the lovely corner house became a dining venue. Back then, the area was surrounded by cherry trees, which is still reflected in the poetic name, Le Temps des Cerises (also a dedication to an eponymous song by Jean-Baptiste Clément).
Upon entering the premises, you immediately feel how the insane vortex of time slows down taking all senses to the olden days. The interiors, adorned with vintage ocherish and red leather shades, beautiful murals, and romantic candles on the table tops, are effortlessly stunning and inviting. On a sunny morning, if you are lucky, there is limited outside seating available, with a backdrop of laced Gothic architecture. Patrons rave about specialty dishes, such as lemony salmon and avocado tartare, loaded bistro burger with fries, risotto with pork, asparagus, and currants, and juicy lamb shoulder confit with roasted aubergine, carrots, and mash. Finish on a sweet note by ordering red fruit mille-feuille with vanilla cream and a cup of fragrant cappuccino.
Average bill – €52 (with coffee)

Did you know that the word “restaurant” was invented in Paris? If you want to savor a hearty bowl of classic onion soup in the city’s oldest establishment, check out La Petite Chaise. It was founded in 1680 and still serves traditional French fare.

Focaccia
It's traditional Italian flat oven-baked bread that is cooked in flat sheet pans, flavoured with olive oil and rosemary and topped with herbs and vegetables. Focaccia is regarded as a pizza's precursor. It derives from the Latin word 'focacia' which means 'hearth' or 'fireside'.

The most gorgeous flower bud on Montmartre, La Maison Rose, has no shortage of attention. We have already described how Ramon Pichot’s studio, established over a century ago, turned into a favored meeting point among the likes of Picasso and Dalí. What used to be the late Alain Delon’s and Albert Camus’ central place has now also become a pop culture landmark thanks to the Netflix production design. The sophisticated elegance of the dining room is quiet and welcoming, which doesn’t distract you from the symphony of seasonal, regional fare presented in the dynamic menu.
Some of the culinary highlights worth trying are roasted carrots with salted granola and lemon sauce, housemadefocaccia with fresh goat cheese and nduja (a pork sausage from the Calabria region of Italy), as well as roasted veal breast with parsley butter, white wine, and baby potatoes. As a light accompaniment with subtle floral notes, we suggest ordering Château de la Selve Maguelonne Rosé IGP Coteaux de l'Ardèche.
Average bill – €62 (with wine)

Instagram influencers – keep phones in your pockets. La Maison Rose is a registered trademark, and if you are planning to boost social media feed by visiting the spot, it's not going to happen. The owners want your culinary indulgence to be uninterrupted by the unstoppable snapping of dishes, and the rules regarding professional photoshoots and filming are very strict as well. Here are some of them:
– There is a four-week delay minimum for acceptance and a five-week delay for the agreement to be registered;
– The management only allows filming in the restaurant’s normal activity;
– Actors, models. etc. sitting at the tables (original ones, no props) must eat the cuisine cooked at the establishment.
Probably, this is why the scene from Emily in Paris was shot on the outside terrace – such a large crew and all the equipment wouldn’t be able to fit inside without disturbing others.

5. A slight English detour at The Bombardier

Fish & chips
Fish and chips is a national British fast food dish that is known all over the world. It consists of deep fried fish filet (cod or haddock) accompanied by chips. Such side-dishes as mushy beans, gherkins or onions are often served with fish and chips.
For a quintessential British pub experience, head down to The Bombardier in the heart of the Latin Quarter. It is a sports bar where patrons can indulge in a bit of nostalgia from the other side of the channel. The whole ambiance is lively and reminiscent of an English neighborhood, except for the view of the nearby Pantheon that anchors you back into Paris. The interiors are made up of wooden elements, large bookshelves, blackboards around the room announcing the latest matches and quizzes, as well as tellies broadcasting live tournaments like the Champions League, the UEFA Cup, and the Premier League.
Even the terrace tables resemble garden-style picnic benches. The menu obviously features classic pub grub like Inkwell beef pie, crispy fish ‘n’ chips, roast beef doused in gravy with potatoes, char-grilled burgers with fries, comforting English breakfast platter, spicy chicken curry with steamed rice, and grilled bangers served on a bed of garlic mashed potatoes. No sports bar adventure can be complete without drinks. Pair your meal with their quality products, such as banana bread beer from Wells Brewery, a pint of Guinness, pink grapefruit Paloma, or signature gin and tonic.

Sea bass
Sea bass is distinguished by mildly sweet flavor and meaty consistency. There's a variety of ways to prepare sea bass, namely to grill, roast, steam, poach, and fry it.

Our next spot, La Coupole, is probably more famous than the whole Emily in Paris show. The Art Deco brasserie on Boulevard de Montparnasse has seen many artistic expatriates and literary community members of the Lost Generation frequenting the place. The intimate restaurant has had a decorated guest list with the likes of Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall, Jean-Paul Sartre, and Simone De Beauvoir gracing the venue with their presence.
The dining halls were decorated by masters from the School of Paris in the 1920s and consist of pillars treated in imitation marble and Cubist-inspired mosaics that are listed on the Registry of Historic Monuments. Start your meal with their delectable frutti di mare platters full of oysters, shrimp, langoustine, clams, and crab legs followed by delicious entrée selections, such as tuna tartare, roastedsea bass in lemon butter emulsion, grilled rib eye filet in peppercorn sauce with vegetables, and broiled lobster tail in Béarnaise sauce. End the unforgettable meal on a sweet note with dessert items like bourbon vanilla crème brûlée and strawberry cream cake.
Average bill – €67

Show Stopper: In Season, we see Emily daunting the now-famous red v-neck tulle dress sitting in one of the ornate booths with Alfie. It is in this episode that Lucien Laviscount’s character pours his heart out to her and puts everything on the line. Besides La Coupole, there just couldn't have been a more romantic place in the city of Paris to shoot the scene. Among dozens of iconic figures, one of the most legendary couples frequenting the establishment was Jane Birkin with Serge Gainsbourg.

The pastel hue of the Paloma Beach seaside complex fused with the serene beauty of the Mediterranean marine landscape – isn’t it the dreamlike paradise to complete your Emily-inspired tour? Situated in the French Riviera’s Saint-Tropez, embraced by turquoise blue waters, the club was used as a filming location for the Laurent G establishment where Emily goes to advertise Champère. Opened in 1948, Paloma Beach offers not only a full selection of seasonal delights but also sunbathing and swimming. Take in the picturesque views while sipping on a fruity, refreshing Magnola mixed with vodka, St-Germain elderflower liqueur, apple juice, lime, and vanilla sugar. On the menu, you will find numerous seafood dishes, including a plate of fried squid, anchovies, and wild shrimp, sea bream ceviche with pickles and citrus marinade, lobster salad with citrus fruit, and oven-roasted wild tiger prawns.
